An awesome adventure and a theme park

It’s Monday morning and I’m up early for no reason pertaining to work…

I don’t have to be at my job til like 1 in the afternoon.

I don’t sleep much as it is. But on days like this where I have the chance to get some work done before I have to be at,well, “work.” I like to get an early jump on things.

Yesterday I went to a theme park with my girlfriend, brother, and nephew. And this was one of the few times I’ve had the chance to spend time with my family since being home from prison.

It was a great time too.

I had big plans to shoot an awesome video of the adventure that would be going to this theme park. And I did shoot a pretty awesome video.

But as usually what happens when a big video is planned…

Technical difficulties arose that made me have to abandon certain aspects of that awesome video idea.

I brought two cameras with me.

One for the car ride and one for in the park and on the rides.

Well, the second camera was my GoPro like camera that was too be used in the park.

It died very soon after getting inside the park. And what footage I did capture on it…

Sucked.

I realized yesterday just how crappy that camera really is.

Horrible picture and sound quality.

Now I have plans to either destroy the camera or sell it.

Not sure which of those options would be more satisfying at this point.

Anyways.

With my GoPro “knock off” out of commission, it was up to my cell phone to capture what action I could inside the park.

By the end of the day, I captured enough to put together a video I was very pleased with…

You can see that video here if you’d like.

It really was great seeing my brother and his son and having the chance to catch up with them.

We rode a lot of rides and just overall had fun!

We have plans to visit this theme park again soon and this time I’ll be a lot more prepared camera-wise.

If you don’t watch this latest video I just uploaded for any other reason, you have to watch it for the scene where my nephew is eating this chocolate and marshmallow pizza…

An Ex Con GARNISHED and EXTORTED..!

As an ex con trying to rebuild and reestablish his life in the free world, for every step I try to take in the right direction…

It seems something always happens that tries to push me further towards the wrong direction.

And after you read this, you’ll understand better when I say, “it’s almost like they want me to fail and go back to prison…”

Who is ” they..” You might wonder.

The system.

So here is the deal…

I’ve been working my day laborer job, trying to work as much as possible in an effort to get out from under the drowning debt I have in bills.

Well, yesterday I work all day. And when I go to pick up my check which should have been a little over 50 bucks…

Guess how much it ended up being..?

26 dollars..!

What the fuck..?! I said.

Where’s the rest of my check at..? I asked.

Turns out that money was taken for garnished wages due to outstanding court fines, and a processing fee the temp service is allowed to tack on in addition to that garnishment..!

This totaled OVER  50 % of my income yesterday..!!

So if I already couldn’t survive on 200 dollars a week, then there CERTAINLY is no way I’m going to be able to survive on less than that..!!

This is really fucked up..!

I mean, yes, I owe a shit ton in court fines that I must pay if I ever hope to see a drivers license again. But we’re talking around 15,000 dollars..!

I’ve been out of prison now for 4 months now after 7 years in..!

I’ve got no real job training or experience…

No license or trade…

Because of that, I don’t make shit and I haven’t been able to find a decent job, yet.

So I haven’t really yet been in a position to even THINK about paying on any of that yet…

What I do know is that these court fines and this EXTORTION of my wages are going to make it really hard to live off of 26 dollars a day.

How the hell can I expect to pay any bills with that..!?

Where do the courts AND the temp service get off taking over 5o % of my pay..?!

Hell, I’m already making these people a KILLING..! And then they’re gonna add on a processing fee for the garnishments..!

AND the processing fee is higher than the damn garnishment..!

That is total bullshit..!

I like to think I’m out here doing as much as I can in an effort to get my life back on track.

But every time I turn around it’s something else.!

Check out this day labor pay check…

IMG_1465.JPG

That “Misc deduction” is the actually FEE the temp service TOOK for processing the garnishment..!

Here is my check before deductions…

IMG_1466.JPG

And here it is after.

IMG_1467.JPG

I’m going to shoot an Episode of The After Prison Show today about all of this, as well.

And it’s not going to be negative, either..

Aside from this crazy garnishment shit costing me more than half of my total earnings yesterday…

I do have quite a bit of good stuff going on regardless of all that.

Like the prospect of A REAL JOB..!

And a good one, too.

Oh, and today I’m going to give the bingo hall and preschool a bid for some mural work. I’ve got a meeting today at 6 PM for that.

Also, there are a few Paint Nite with Joe developments to mention, as well…!

So look updates to all of that coming in the near future…

And until then, how bout a laugh to stop the tears…

Help me out here…

I need a caption idea for this cartoon….

What do you think this guy should be saying to me after I see just how little my check is after all this garnishment extortion…

IMG_1471.JPG

Whelp, that’s about all I got for now.

Hope all of you have an awesome Tuesday and make the most of it.

I have no choice but to do exactly that, myself.

An Awesome Post from an Awesome Guy.

Hey, that’s right..!

I am an AWESOME GUY..!

So…

It’s Monday morning and there’s no work for me today.

IMG_1220

The snowy conditions as of late have made work obsolete. So now today I will focus on The After Prison Show and also trying to line up a new venue or two for Paint Nite  with Joe events.

What a storm we just had to deal with this past weekend, too.

It was like a hurricane mixed with a white out…

Guess that’s what a blizzard is, though.

We got about 2 inches of snow, total.

Where I’m located, that’s considered a state of emergency.

It was a nasty storm, though.

Hell, the wind was so bad Friday night that I woke up at about 3 am to a pounding outside my apartment window…

Turns out the vinyl siding was being ripped off the the outside of my apartment building and was banging up against the side of it.

It was also banging against the window, too.

That made me worry about the window getting busted out. So in order to prevent that from happening…

I pulled the long piece of vinyl siding in through the window and duck taped the window shut afterwards. It wasn’t a pretty fix. But it got us through the night.

Now the piece of vinyl siding just dangles as a grim reminder of what was… ( that sounds so cliche.)

IMG_1221

So now with the weekend over and the snow still here, the temp service is telling me that work could be slow for a couple of days…

Great news at the end of the month with rent right around the corner…

But I’m sure things will improve and if they don’t…

Well, I’ll just have to go out there and “get it on my own…”

In my old life that would have entailed selling drugs or robbing someone with drugs.

In my new life…

That means going out there today and possibly putting in an application with this construction company I’ve been flagging for (if they’re even open today.) And also talking to some new venues about hosting a Paint Nite With Joe event.

So that’s the game plan.

Sounds like a pretty good one right…?

I mean, a lot better than that of my New England Patriots yesterday against Denver…

Oh my God.

Hey, congrats to Peyton Manning and The Denver Broncos. They played a good game yesterday in relation to the horrible game my guys played and they deserve the trip back to the Super Bowl.

I just hope they do better than the last time they went to the Super Bowl. A time when I was still in prison and was prompted to write this post.

So good luck to them.

My prediction though…

And this is not the prediction of a guy who is “in his feelings” because his team just missed the ride to the Super Bowl…

But my unbiased prediction is that Cam Newton and The Carolina Panthers are going to ANNIHILATE The Broncos.

Just my prediction.

Moving on…

So if you have left comments lately, and have wondered why I have not responded…

Well, the answer is because I have been in my feelings because my New England Patriots just missed their ride to Super Bowl 50.

No, I’m kidding.

The reason is because…

Well..

I guess there is NO REAL reason.

I’ve just been slacking a lot, to say the least. ( Yes..! Awesome play on words..!)

I need to tighten up.

And I’m trying to just that.

So, I’m here now crawling back to wordpress and begging for forgiveness for my lack of disregard for just how awesome the support all of you have shown me has been…!

I need that back..!

SO PLEASE COME BACK TO ME..!

Also, in relation to The After Prison Show things have slacked up there, as well. And not really because I have wanted them to. But because I’ve been working a lot lately and not really having the money or time to invest in the project that I would like to have.

I do have some awesome ideas for upcoming episodes and I hope to get to shooting some of those soon.

Something I also want to start doing is video blogging more. I feel like that will help me a lot when I don’t have the time I would like to have to sit and type out a post.

I feel like we’re missing a lot of great content because of my lack of time to put content out there. So I’m hoping that vlogging will help in that regard.

I’ll be starting that today actually. So we’ll see how that works out.

That’s about it for this post folks.

Bottom line is I need to tighten up. Especially considering there is so much I’m hoping to accomplish. It’s not been easy to manage my time out here, and I’m trying to be more time conscious. I believe that will help in some regards and as I attempt that, you should consider it, as well.

We all have things we want to do and not enough time to do them…

What is the solution..?

“Make time.”

Take care and look for my new vlogging addition coming today..!

Trans gender After Prison and a Paint Party

What a combination for a title, huh..?

Well, hello everyone..! It’s been a few days since I last posted  and since then a new episode of The After Prison Show has been created..!

What an interesting episode this one turned out to be too…

It features “Kendra,” a trans gender woman and her struggle with addiction and acceptance.

Click here to check it out.

We had to go on quite the adventure to shoot this episode too…

Hell, the car ride was so long we actually have another entire episode just from footage we shot while traveling. But that hasn’t been put together just yet.

Soon, enough though…

The shoot with Kendra went pretty good. I won’t lie, it wasn’t our easiest shoot. And that was because Kendra liked to talk…

And not really answer the questions I would ask…

Or if she did, she would go on for DAYS with the answers…

And she used “like,” “um,” and “you know,” every other word.

But aside from those minor things, I feel like Levi and I really put together an awesome episode..!

We had a lot of fun in the process too.

On location filming here…

It was such a beautiful are too that we went too…

We met a friend of Kendra’s who turned out to be one of the coolest chicks I think either of us had ever met. And that made things really awesome, too.

So a special shout out to you who reads this who knows who you are..! lol

The next big thing on the radar is my very first upcoming paint party…

Which is NEXT WEEK..!

I’ve already sold a bunch of ticket, too. And I’ve even been working on the piece that we will be painting at this event.

I actually painted it yesterday start to finish in one hour…

And the event is a two hour event. So this will be perfect because that will leave plenty of room for socializing.

This is the painting too, by the way.

I think I’m going to start doing paintings like this on a daily basis and then try to sell them online somewhere.

So that’s about everything right this second…

Don’t want to make this too long. There’s already a 17 min video I’m hoping I can get you to sit though… lol

Take care and let me know what you think..!

Our latest episode here.

Hood sliding like Bo Duke for Microphones

Happy New Year everyone..!

Wow, it’s 2016..!

I feel GREAT about this year. How about you..? How do you fell about it..?

Got any BIG plans or GOALS..?

Well, you KNOW I sure do..!

Two actually…

  1. Get The After Prison Show on TV.

2. Have a lot of success with my paint party ventures that are about to begin THIS MONTH..!

Yep there’s a whole lot I’m trying to accomplish this NEW year…!

I bet all of you have some things that you’d like to accomplish, too.

So, a lot to report…

I been slacking here a bit. So, it’s time to update all of you on the chaos that is my life.

First, WE GOT THE MICS..!

YES..!!!

But then, sadly, ‘no….”

Here’s the story…

It was New Years Eve…

It was raining and miserable and I had to go meet a client ( so professional) to sell some artwork…

As we went on this looooonnng ride to do so,  I was fully aware that Amazon had given me a delivery date that started with New Years Eve…

It also ran all the way until the 6th of January…

Quite a large window of delivery space and I thought there is NO WAY those mics were going to get here on that first date…

ESPECIALLY, WITH IT BEING NEW YEARS EVE..!

Well, we went and met the client and as we were getting back to my place I just had this feeling like maybe we missed the delivery…

We missed the delivery.

There was a “sorry we missed you” note in my mailbox.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO….!!!!!

OHMYGOD the damn mics were right here and we MISSED them..!

Now have you EVER heard of the USPS doing a same day return delivery…?

Me neither.

But still, we tried.

My cameraman Levi sat on the phone with the automated nightmare that is the customer service for the postal service…

“Sorry I didn’t get that, did you say..?’

That was the response to EVERYTHING…!

This actually gave us a lot to use for funny video content.

But that’s another thing altogether.

After about 30 minutes of haggling with the automated service, Levi finally was transferred to an actual HUMAN BEING..!

After about 2 minutes of talking to this human we were informed that the mail truck was still in the area and we should be able to catch it.

Cut immediately to the shot of us running outside and sliding across the hood of the car like Bo Duke in the Dukes of Hazzard…

Then peeling away…

Something sort of like that…

We flew down the streets in search of this mail truck.

Where we were told it would be, it wasn’t…

We were almost ready to give up then, WAIT…!

Whats that..?!?

THE MAIL TRUCK..!

We found it..!!!

Of course we did..!!!

The mail dude didn’t ask any questions at all. Which, and maybe this is just that “criminal nature” in me…

But it made me realize just why criminals are targeting packages.

Seems pretty easy to get them.

So…

We got the mics..!

On the way back to my place I thought just how awesome a video like that would have been to shoot…

Our adventures trying to track down the mail truck…

Damn we miss out on some AWESOME content…

But none the less, we got the mics, and now we were ready to shoot a video unveiling them…

So we did that…

We unveiled the mics on camera thanking those who donated to our gofundme.com/afterprison campaign… (Just throwing that out there…)

We talked about how the funds raised go immediately into what we need for the show…

Yeah… It was a GREAT video.

But then, we opened the mics and BOOM…

We realized we needed an additional cord to make them work…

Shit.

Cut the scene back to us running out the door again and hood sliding like Bo Duke, AGAIN…

This time we were burning it down in route to the closest Radio Shack…

And of course, we were shooting footage of ALL THIS..!

We get to Radio Shack and this is were the climatic end happens…

We are informed that its not a special cord that we need…

It’s a WHOLE NEW CAMERA..!

Our Canon Rebel T3 doesn’t support input audio mics…

WHAT.THE.FUCK…?

Show business, folks.

A money vacuum….

In fact, if you don’t have a money machine to keep up with the vacuum like power that filming has on your wallet, then easily will go broke.

Sort of like how I am right now.

But not to fret…

We are now going to sell the Canon Rebel T3 and use that money plus whatever money we can generate from further campaign efforts to upgrade to

So, that’s where we stand right now… And that’s also the story of the microphones…

Hey by the way…

Anyone out there interested in helping us purchase a new camera…

We’re accepting donations and no amount is too small…

5 dollars even helps..!

Joe gets recognition from an elected official and a lot more…

Yesterday I had to attend a luncheon for ex prisoners coming home after prison and who are trying to get their lives together…

The event was hosted by Angela Murphy…

The power house re entry woman I have spoke about in previous posts.

This chick is amazing and yesterday was an awesome event…!

I got to speak with her on camera and sh talked about some of the awesome things she is doing to help individuals who are transitioning back into society after prison…

Then she introduced me to Will Moffett an elected city council man in Hampton Virginia…

Just wait til you see what happened then when I spoke with him of the AWESOME things I’m trying to do with After Prison..!

I also met a woman named Lisa Temple who works at a local college and has her own marketing company…

This woman is a serious resource I would love to be able to utilize and she takes the time to meet with and work with ex prisoners who are trying to “brand” something…

What an amazing woman.

I mean, her services are not cheap I’m sure…

Yet she takes the time and patience to meet people who are returning to society  after prison and she helps them market their ventures….

The luncheon was an awesome event..!

We were able to film quite a bit of it…

We networked with some people who could really be instrumental in helping us to get After Prison off the ground…

And we got a chance to speak with Megan Mann who was also there…

She is another awesome chick I’ve mentioned previously here and she is just coming home after being incarcerated herself…

I’ll be doing an on camera interview with her on Wednesday ( I hope…) and you will get to hear this womans amazing story of what her transition has been like…

After all this with the luncheon yesterday…

I then had to race over to the banquet job where I was not only working another event…

I was also in charge of making sure those who were there from the temp service were actually… “there.”

Meaning I was the on site rep from the temp service…

You know that big fancy office job I now have…

reclining-hispanic-executive-office-view-skyline-19635673

Yep, thats giving me a little more authority.

And I love it too..!

This temp service is really giving me a chance to prove myself and to prove that I can handle a job with quite a bit of responsibility.

So…

I raced over to another banquet after the luncheon yesterday…

Got everyone checked in…

Made sure we had the 30 people we needed there…

Conferred with the GM’s and the big bosses…

And then once I was done with that…

It was back to playing my temp worker server role.

The banquet was a success.

Nothing too exciting to mention with that…

And tomorrow its back to the office job grind…

Check out the videos from the luncheon yesterday… and my speech too…

Luncheon video and councilman Moffett.

Lisa Temple and banquet plus Megan Mann.

Joes speech.

Also, real quick…

I’m going to tell you why I really need some help from santa this year…

The picture here is of a fully decked out lavalier  and shotgun microphone set up for filming…

51aLScYdX4L._AC_UL160_SR160,160_

This kit is 200 bucks and I’m hoping there are some After Prison believers out there who would be willing to donate to the gofundme.com/afterprison  campaign page to help us acquire this set up…

Unfortunately, the funds we have raised thus far have been exhausted…

Those funds went to my cameraman in terms of an hourly wage I pay him for his time and services…

As of late, I have been paying him out of my own pocket. Which I don’t mind…

Though can’t really afford.

But dreams are achieved through sacrifice…

And I don’t mind making the necessary sacrifices to turn my dreams into a reality.

This microphone setup is very important and will enhance our sound quality tremendously…

Hearing what is being said is imperative to the sort of video we are shooting…

Individuals coming home after prison have a story to tell and I want to make sure you hear that story clearly.

Again, please visit gofundme.com/afterprison, and consider a contribution to our endeavor.

Thank you.

JOE’S COMING HOME, FINALLY!

Whats up everyone..!?

The end of this incarceration is finally right around the corner for me…

Who the hell would have imagine I’d make it to the end of all this damn time to finally be in a position to where I was about to be free man

again..?

After seven years I feel like I’m about to walk out to a world that’s completely changed…

I mean, ive never even seen a smart phone… Not in real life anyways…

I feel like I left the world during the stone age and I’m coming back out there to that T.V. show, ‘Minority Report’…

Its like back to the future for me…

And all of that is about to happen in Tee minus 6 days and counting.

Can you imagine what it’s going to be like for me getting back out there to the real world and trying to get my life back on track..?

Well, you wont have to wonder much…

Because everything is going to be chronicled on,
‘JOEWRITESHISWRONGS 2.0’…

Video blogs are coming immediately after I’m released…

You will see everything…

All that I have to do right after my release…

From something as simple as trying to get some clothes…

To something a lot more complex like going to see probation and parole…

You’ll be able to watch me enjoying my first 24 hours as a free man…

Food…

Friends…

Fun…

Then comes the not so fun stuff…

Trying adjust to a world that’s so much different from the one I’ve known for so long now.

Then finding a job…

Learning and trying to catch up with all the new technology that’s come out since I’ve been gone…

Then all the things I hope to pursue after my release, too…

Everything will be recorded…

Everything will be posted…

And all of you will be able to see, firsthand, Joe just trying to write his wrongs, for real… And after so long spent away…

One of the hardest things to deal with while being in prison is trying to handle when things don’t go according to plan.

By the way, things never go according to plan at least, for the prisoners that is.

Take for example, like today I was having a fairly okay day working, and talking to different individuals abut all sorts of good positive stuff and then how everything changed after lunch.

No one was able to get back to work after lunch because of an emergency count. And the staff we had to deal with in the process of all that were not exactly the most courtesy to say the least.

Another good example of things not going to plan is being in prison and trying to make the most of it through endless measures and watching as the results you hope for never really pan out.

By the way, trying to have an awesome super successful stardom reaching blog from prison might have been me setting the bar a little high.

Who knew…?

The point of all this is just like the conclusion I reached earlier in the day with another likeminded prisoner with high hopes of getting released and succeeding .

As we strive to do anything in life from anywhere in life…

Whether in prison or in the free world…

There are always going to be times when things don’t go according to plan.

But there is a major difference between guys like myself who are in prison or ex cons who have been released, and the likes of the rest of society as a whole. That difference is that when things don’t go according to plan, for some reason, we are way more susceptible to just giving up.

Maybe it’s because deep down we feel like we don’t stand a chance.

Or we never really did.

Or maybe we feel like the world will always view us a certain way.

Or there will always be things that we will never really be able to get out from underneath. Like addiction or our criminal records.

For us, for me, prisoners… ex criminals… detrimental effects can come from things not according to plan. The wind we fought so hard to find can be sucked right out of our sails. We can lose hope entirely and easily resort back to past ways that led us to destroying our lives.

Death and incarceration tend to be the top two results from when things don’t go according to plan for guys like me and others in my position.

So what is there to do?

Except this?

Just be okay with this…?

No. I can’t do that.  And I’m trying to encourage others here not to either. No matter how bad things seem, there is always something good that can be found in that moment.

In a lot of cases the only good is “hope”.

Hope, especially for guys like us it might honestly be the strongest of things that we can cling too.

But in a lot of cases we’re so blinded by whatever it was that didn’t go according to plan that we don’t take the time to find that good thing in that moment…

That “hope” that is still there waiting for us to cling to it.

Instead, we abandon all hope entirely, saying in the end, that there isn’t any hope for us.

We lose hope when we need it most. And we need it most when things don’t go according to plan.

No matter how many asshole CO’s I have to deal with or how many things I strive to create a better way through that don’t pan out, I have to always remember there is at least hope.

And sometimes hope is all there is.

A guy named Google

Prison Visitor Fee

Originally posted April 7, 2014

Back when I was at the jail I met a guy everyone called “Google”.  I can’t really remember why he said he was given this nickname but I think it had something to do with him being “good” with the computer.

Google was a tall goofy lengthy looking younger guy who kinda resembled an ogre.

He also had some very heinous and disturbing charges that he was facing quite a bit of time for.

He, as well as two others, were charged with a home invasion where the three had allegedly broke into an old ladies home, tied her up, beat her up, and then robbed her.

This was a very high profile case. It was plastered all over the news. There were even pictures of the old lady with a black eye and bruised face.

This was a very terrible crime.

I felt no remorse for Google who had it quite rough at the jail.

The snitches were all over his case, possibly trying to jump on it and use whatever they could as leverage to testify against him.

Guys were always beating him up; stealing from him…I guess what goes around comes around.

When I first met Google it was only because I was forced to be housed in the same cell block as this dude.

After learning what he was charged with, under no circumstances would I have dealt with this guy-except that I had no other choice but to since we were housed together.

Oh, and because I quickly realized how despised and hated he was and how he was willing to do anything just to be liked or even barely tolerated…I made him my tattoo assistant.

Or my bitch…whatever you prefer.

Back then I was tattooing every single day, pretty much all day to. So I really didn’t have a lot of time to do shit like make food or clean up. So through what I made tattooing, I used some of that to pay Google to do what I never felt like doing.

Now I know calling another man my bitch seems to have quite a bit of gay undertone especially being incarcerated and all. But I mean this in the most heterosexual way possible.

When I say he was my bitch, I mean that as my bitch he would do whatever I asked him to do.

Again…no homo.

For example, I would say “Hey Google go make me some coffee”. Or “Get this tattoo padding ready for me.” And he would do that.

Yes, I took full advantage of the fact he was in a bad situation.

I don’t care, either.

The world is very “doggy dog”

Throughout the time that I knew Google I asked him why the hell he would do such a heinous thing as what he was charged with.

What could possibly make a guy and his friends break into an old woman’s home beat and rob her.

“Drugs” he said.

He said he was strung out on drugs.

I’m locked up for drugs. My charges stem from drug addiction too. But mine are non-violent.

I could never see myself doing something as despicable as to what he had done and then simply saying drugs made me do it.

If in some other life, one where I was actually even capable of such an atrocity and I had committed an act as deplorable as what Google had done, and someone asked me why I had done it, I might say “because I am a monster that is why.”

Doesn’t that sound like a much more satisfying response?

I also knew Google throughout his entire court process. I witnessed firsthand all that he went through. Some of which actually made me sick to my stomach.

Google was offered a plea deal for 25 years… that is a quarter century!

He was in his early 20’s at the time I think he was 23. So he was given a chance to come home at close to 50 years old.

I guess there is still some life after that.

But like most that I see who are offered football number plea deals as we like to call them, Google turned down the offer.

He then decided he was going to fight his case, in an effort to beat his charges probably just as he had beaten that old lady.

The problem with this was that if he didn’t win at court, then the deal was gone and he could very likely end up getting a lot more time then what was originally offered, especially considering the heinous nature of his crime and the fact that it was very high profile. Meaning that it was on the news more than a few times.

The only good thing I tried to do here was I tried to convince Google to take the plea deal. I told him that he didn’t have a leg to stand on at court and that the jail house snitches were already trying like all hell to jump on his case and testify against him.

But he wouldn’t listen.

His court appointed lawyer came to see him before trial and also tried to convince him, to take the deal. He said that there were 6 different people from the jail who had wrote to the prosecutor claiming to have information on his case!

That’s 6 different snitches that tried to jump on his case!

Yet, he still felt he had a chance fighting the case.

Because the case was so high profile, Google had to have a jury trial. I think he even told me that most of his jury was old ladies.

This guy was definitely about to get buried in court.

The trial didn’t even last that long, maybe just a couple of days. But I will never forget the day when it ended and Google came back into the cell block. I was doing a tattoo as I was usually doing. Maybe it was because I was the closest thing this horrible dude had to a friend, but it was me that he first told the news to of what had happened at court.

He walked into the cell I was in very somber like, very indifferent or maybe in shock.

I don’t really know.

He stood there for a moment, and then he said, “They just found me guilty of 22 felonies…the jury just recommended 206 years.”

I was completely blown away by this. Not because I felt sorry for him or because I didn’t feel like the punishment fit the crime. To be honest when it comes to my thoughts on those two subjects I’m not really sure how I felt. But I was blown away because I was standing in the presence of a guy who had just basically given his life to prison.

Like he had just killed himself!

Google had the opportunity to spare himself from a life sentence by taking the plea. Yet he refused to accept it. Now he will be forced to make the second most ultimate sacrifice.

“Life in prison!”

When Google went to sentencing the judge had the power to accept or reject the jury’s recommendation.

The jury had recommended that he serve 206 years… that is like 2 life sentences plus 6 years.

Well, the judge did reject the jury’s recommendation.

Instead, he sentenced Google to 216 years.

The judge gave him an additional 10 years for the heinous nature of his crime.

It has been over 3 ½ years since I last saw Google. I actually ran in to him at the receiving unit prisoners go to after the leave their jails.

He was very optimistic there. He felt he had a chance at an appeal.

I, myself, didn’t share his optimism.
