My Girlfriend Eats Bugs

On Sunday my girlfriend and I went to an Asian grocery store.

My girlfriend is Asian.

It was a pretty unique experience too.

Not for the fact that I’ve never been in an Asian grocery store. Because I have been in these types of stores, many, MANY, times.

Flashback to my criminal lifestyle days.

Another story for another time.

But!

What did make this trip so interesting was the fact that not only did I get the opportunity to learn more about my girlfriends culture; I also filmed it.

I walked right inside this Asian grocery store with my GoPro and shot a really awesome video with my girlfriend.

This video took some balls, too.

I mean, it’s not easy to just walk into a place of business and start filming!

Hell, it’s probably not even allowed.

But in all the experience I’ve had with shooting videos thus far, I’ve learned a few things.

And one of the biggest things I’ve learned is that most times, you just have to go for it and see what happens.

Worst case scenario, they kick you out.

But me being the quick thinker that I like to consider myself to be, I had a fail safe in place for if things came to that.

If anyone would have tried to kick us out, I simply would have made a big ass scene and said ” ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!!”

“WE’RE SENDING THIS VIDEO BACK TO MY GIRLFRIENDS PARENTS-IN KOREA!!”

Fail safe.

Fortunately though, it did not come to that as I explored this grocery store with my girlfriend.

What did come from this was a really awesome video though!

Oh and the things we saw!

Not to mention all that I learned!

It was QUITE an adventure.

And one worth you taking the time to check out also.

So, with that, I hope you will.

Till next time take care and enjoy life!

Oh, and this video about exploring this Asian grocery store…

It’s called My Girlfriend Eats Bugs. lol

I bought someone heroin just so I could get a ride.

My God I am tired.

As I type this I am just coming off a 7 day work week.

I have been busting my ass this past week. Pouring concrete everyday. And trying to do as much video work as I can for AfterPrisonShow as I can possibly muster in my free time.

Now that I think about it though…

I’m like, “what free time?”

I’m always working. Whether at my full time ass busting job. Or on my video venture that I am so passionate about.

It’s crazy.

Most days I have to be at work around 3 am.

Or 5 am.

And even with those early work days, I still find myself getting up an extra hour or two early to try and squeeze in any video work that I can.

But all of that is just my food for thought insight for ya.

I’ve really wanted to begin vlogging. But that is a lot of everyday video work that honestly, I just don’t have the time for right now.

So this “blog,” is where I can fill you in on the extra details that go into this journey of mine…

“Trying to find success after prison on a major level.”

There has been a lot to fill you in on, too.

Where to even begin…

For starters, I just recently bought a moped.

That now is my back and forth transportation to work. Which means I no longer have to rely on Uber or Lyft. Which, honestly, were KILLING my pockets.

I would spend about 100 dollars a week just in work rides.

Now I have a nice little death trap that gets me back and forth to work for about 5 dollars a week.

It’s not the safest transportation. But it is cheap at least.

By the way I’ve never rode a moped before in my life. Not until the day I actually bought this thing.

That’s kind of a funny story too.

I found the moped on OfferUp. And in order to get to where the moped was…

I needed a ride.

Well, the only person who could give me a ride was a heroin junkie type friend of mine.

I called this person and said I needed a ride.

I said I would pay them for that ride, as well.

So of course they came right over at the mention of money.

Then this friend told me that before we could go, they needed to stop in the projects for a second. And that they would need for me to give them some money so they could go get some dope.

I told this junkie friend of mine “ok.”

“I’ll give you some money so you can go get high. But I need you to bring your ass right back here so I can go get this moped.”

They went and got the dope.

Did the dope.

All before I even thought about stepping foot in their vehicle.

And then my junkie friend, my junkie friends-junkie friend, and I all rode out to get me my moped.

When we got to the location to purchase the moped, my plan was to hopefully load the moped in the back of my junkie friends suv.

That didn’t work out.

I test rode the moped and was a bit shaky on the damn thing.

I even almost crashed it.

Well, with the moped unable to fit in the back of my junkie friends suv, wouldn’t you know I had to ride this thing back to my house from the location I purchased it at.

This was like a 40 minute ride during rush hour. And through two busy cities!

Yep, that’s how I got to where I needed to be to buy the moped. And also how I learned to ride it.

Riding through two different cities during rush hour.

FUN. FUN.

By the way, these are the real REAL behind the scenes moments here at AfterPrisonShow. So only those of you who take the time to read these posts will ever know these things.

Oh yeah, and like three days after I bought the moped. I crashed it.

I was going about 10 miles per hour when I locked the front wheel up and had the damn thing slide out from underneath me.

That shit hurt like HELL.

For more on the moped. Check this out.

Can this week be a lot less violent and hateful than last week, please.

What’s going on everyone it’s Monday and the start of a new week.

Unfortunately, though. The end of the last week was pretty sad as even more violence erupted this time in Louisiana.

I tweeted my #mondaymotivation saying I hope this week is a lot less violent and hateful.

Truly, my heart goes out to all the victims and their families of this past weeks violence all over the world.

As it might appear, I am trying to get back to this blog. Something that I have been missing and slacking on for quite awhile now.

The only justification I can offer for my lack of posting here is that I have been working a hell of lot at my job.

Yep, I’m still at the concrete plant. I had posted about getting hired there months back. And where I saw a man killed today at my job…

Well, not today, did that happen. It actually happened months ago. And when I wrote that post it was literally like an hour after it happened.

But, yes!

I am still gainfully employed at the concrete plant where “it is hot as all outdoors.”

And just recently, I even got a raise to 14 dollars an hour!

Not bad for a guy who has been out of prison now for about 10 months!

Also, I am still working on The After Prison Show on YouTube.

I have big plans for that channel and I try to upload new videos once a week there.

I have even acquired quite a bit a filming equipment! So my video quality has improved quite a bit, as well.

As a guy who doesn’t drive due to a ton of court fines… ( 15,000 dollars to be specific. Of which 1,600 I have already payed thanks to my job. ) I’ve had to become a very frequent user of Uber and Lyft.

I used these services about 10 times a week.

But throughout my experiences with these services, I have come to realize that there are some drivers who will make you feel like you are on an episode of Undercover Boss.

Not sure what I mean by that.

Well, check out this for more.

And that’s about it for now. It’s 9:30 am on this sunny and hot Monday. And I have to be at work today at 12.

Great.

I get to go to work jusssst when it’s going to be getting BRUTALLY hot today.

But even with that, I’m grateful to have this job and I welcome the heat-stroke type conditions with open arms. Because if not for this job, I would not be anywhere near as close to actually getting ahead as I am now.

Have a great week. And thank you for stopping by!

3 Men shot while sitting in the wrong neighborhood

This is a video that has blown up in my local area here in Hampton Roads, Virginia.

Basically the back story to this video is that these three guys had some beef with some other guys from the neighborhood they were shot in.

These guys thought nothing would happen if they went to their neighborhood and sat in the car, smoking weed, and listening to music. But as you’ll see in this video, that wasn’t the case at all.

The video is long ( over an hour. ) But if you skip to about 5 mins and 30 seconds into it, that is were I would suggest you start from. Because soon thereafter, is when all hell breaks loose.

Also, keep watching it after the endless amount of gun shots, because it gets very real after that.

This is as close as you can get to what the violence is like out here in the streets without actually going through it yourself.

Also, welcome to AfterPrisonShow.com for those of you who may not be familiar with this site.

I’m Joe a guy who has served 7 years in prison for non violent drug and weapons possession charges.

I have been through a hell of a journey incarcerated, and since being released from prison and trying to get my life back on track.

I also shoot videos for YouTube about all of this and more.

If you’d like, please follow AfterPrisonShow.com and also subscribe to us as well on YouTube.
