Prison Rape and Candy Bars Pt. Two

I’m going to let you in on some insider information about AfterPrisonShow…

For those of you who have been here since the days when I was in prison, and this blog first began..

And this wasn’t called The After Prison Show, ( which now has been shorten to AfterPrisonShow to coincide with the YouTube channel name.)  .

Back when this blog was called JoeWritesHisWrongs….

I made a post called Prison Rape and Candy Bars.

Well, here is the insider information about this site…

Did you know that THAT post is my TOP VIEWED POST EVER..!?

WTF?!?!

Everyday I look at the for this site and THAT POST is ALWAYS viewed..!

Sometimes even multiple times a day.!

Because of this, I almost even changed the name of my YouTube channel to the name of that post.!

With all of this being said, and known, I really wanted to make a VIDEO on my channel about the actual Prison Rape and Candy Bars post.

Better yet, I’M GOING TO MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT THE POST!

But the reason I haven’t done so yet, is because I couldn’t find the exact video that we had to watch when I first arrived at prison.

And believe me…

I’d been looking for it.

Well, guess what..?

I FINALLY FOUND IT..!

This is the video I had to watch in prison that had pale little frail white kids white knuckle to the bottom of their seats…

Truth be told, I was, too…

I’m going to make a video for AfterPrisonShow on YouTube using this video, and offering my take on the things they talk about in it.

That will be coming soon…

But I figured all of you who do take the time to check out this blog and have dealt with my serious bouts of infidelity… (Yes, YouTube is my true heart. I’m sorry. lol)

All of you deserve a treat.

Flowers would be ideal. But in place of that, how about a REAL LIVE “PRISON RAPE AND CANDY BARS VIDEO…?”

What follows is the video I just recently found…

That is very “GRIPPING…”

Maybe a poor choice of words.

Still, this is the Prison Rape and Candy Bars video I had to watch in prison. And that I’ll soon be making MY OWN VIDEO based off…

Enjoy.

BTW. The sound quality on this video is very low for some reason.

A little update about an awesome job I found as an ex con with little experience.

So here’s a little logic to keep in mind for the afterprisonshow.

If I’m not posting, that is because I’m working.

But if I am posting, well then, obviously I am not working…

Unless of course we’re talking about anytime I posted while at work on a job for the temp service…

Working on jobs that did not matter at all…

( I will never miss an opportunity to take jabs at them…)

So yeah, I’ve been working my ass off lately. And today, it’s Friday and I’m not work.

Why..?

Well because we worked 16 straight hours yesterday with no lunch break..!

Crazy right..?

Sounds like something I might complain about right..?

Well, surprisingly. I’m not.

Why..?

Because this job is actually a good job with a lot of room for advancement.

Especially for a guy like me.

An ex con who works hard and is willing to learn what he needs to in order to advance.

So, let me give you a little background  about this job, and what this first week on it has been like.

First, I have to say, that it’s always funny being the new guy and trying to figure out what is what and who is who…

Kind of a lot like life in prison.

But since getting hired I’ve realized a few things…

  1. I’m not the only new guy… There are tons of new guys… In fact most everyone I seem to meet is relatively new.
  2. Not a lot of these guys are really willing to go the extra mile to make a name for themselves at this company. But I am, and that extra push I put into this job is already being recognized… AND AFTER ONLY A WEEK AT THAT..!

There is one other thing that I realized as well. But I wanted to seperate this from the list for the fact that it is pretty crazy…

There was this new guy who started maybe a week before me…

He was hired as a supervisor…

When he introduced himself to me…

He did so as “Supervisor..”

A real character this guy WAS.

What I guess he did was told the company that he had 15 YEARS of experience and they in turn said…

“Well, holy shit..! We’re going to hire you as a supervisor then..!”

FYI… I told the company I had “a little experience.”

Turns out this guy didn’t know shit about the job or the concrete casting trade…

Also, he didn’t know how to be a supervisor either. And that little power title went to his head faster than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest…

Sorry. I was looking for a funny redneck metaphor…

It was the best one I could find on the fly.

This supervisor guy was causing all sorts of problems and making life on the job really difficult.

Just as my work ethic was being recognized, so was this guys problematic nature…

He got fired last night.

This week I worked 7 hours on Tuesday.

2 hours on Wednesday. ( In part due to the supervisor fraud and him causing problems with some of the guys. Who in part, called the real boss. And in part sent everyone home…)

Maybe they were testing that supervisors, supervising abilities which turned out to be an EPIC fail…

Funny too, how all we were doing on Tuesday was PICKING UP TRASH..!

BUT, something GOOD did come from Tuesday…

I did learn how to operate a BOBCAT.bobcat-760078.jpg

One thing, among many other things that I like about this company is that they will let you learn anything here…

If you want to learn to operate heavy equipment…

“Hey get in there…”

I do have a little experience with heavy equipment, too.

So I jumped at the opportunity to get some more with this bobcat.

By the way…

Operators of heavy equipment make more money..!

I want more money.

So again, Tuesday 7 hours…

Wednesday 2 hours…

And yesterday 16 hours..!

Yesterday was a bitch, too..!

Not much in a bad way…

Just tons of work and ass busting labor at that…!

FOR 16 HOURS..!

AND every job that we did yesterday, I did one of the hardest parts, if not THE hardest part on ALL OF THEM..!

IMG_1496

OK. So this is where I work.

These long lanes that you’re seeing are where we pour the concrete.

It takes TONS of concrete to fill these lanes and inside them you can see what is actually inside of the concrete forms that make up overpasses, bridges, and pillars…

There is a lot of prep work and steel tying that goes into forming these concrete pieces.

The guys that do that work sometimes work 24 hours straight..!

My job, being part of the “pour crew is simply to pour the concrete.

Which really ISN’T that damn simple.

IMG_1493

This is one of my co workers busy cleaning out one of the lanes in preparation to us pouring…

We have to first clean the lanes and get out all the scrap metal with the help of a magnet…

I know it looks like he is busy at work cleaning out the lane here…

But really, he dropped the magnet into the lane and this is him trying to get it out.

IMG_1497

This is the bucket we use while pouring the concrete…

I know it doesn’t look like it here. But this thing is HUGE…!

It’s like 10 feet tall and a big ass forklift is what brings the concrete in another bucket to be dumped into this one. Which an overhead crane then lifts and transports to where it is needed.

Most pours take like 20 + buckets to complete.

So those are some pics along with a little background about the job…

As I wrap this up, I’ll tell you one more quick little story…

Yesterday we did 6 pours.

A shit ton of work…

On the last pour, it was outside in the rain, and snow, and dark.

It was a slab of concrete similar to this one.

images (3).jpg

A hundred yards of concrete…

Which I googled and learned equaled 10 cement mixer trucks..!

Useless fact really.

But while working on this slab we had all this heavy equipment around us for the lights they had…

Well, at one point one of the pieces of heavy equipment was in the way and needed to be moved…

It was a boom lift like this one…

200601101657119400.jpg

Well, the boss said ” Joe move that lift..”

I have never operated one of these before and the bosses had never seen me in any equipment…

When I learned the bobcat, I was with the supervisor who got fired.

Also, I pay attention to everything for some reason. And maybe like an hour earlier, the forklift driver was instructed to move that same lift.

He has been working at the company for only like a week himself. And the boss told him, “make sure you turn off the orange button…”

“It’s the parking brake…”

That was all I had to go on…

Still, I took that info and I jumped at the opportunity, never flinching.

I climbed up in the machine hit the brake pedal. Then turned off the orange button. Then noticed the forward and reverse control on the steering column and put the machine in reverse…

The alert went off…

BEEP…

BEEP…

BEEP…

OK. No problem. I got this.

Then very carefully, I moved the machine…

When done. I got out and the boss said ” Joe, I didn’t know you knew how to operate heavy equipment..”

I said, ” I have a little experience with all sorts of machines…”

Which is not a lie. I really do.

And he said ” Well why didn’t you tell me that before..!”

I said ” Well, it never really came up before..”

I think I’m going to do pretty well with this company.

By the way…

I went to work at 6 am yesterday…

I didn’t clock out again until 10:15 pm.

Tomorrow I’ll be back at work.

Oh, and today is payday too.

Awesome.

A Positive Post from a Positive Guy..!

Oh, by the way…

I am BOB ROSS…lol

Hey how about something positive for a change..! Not the ol doom and gloom of late. Let’s talk about some good ol fashioned POS-SO-TIV-VITY..!

I think that works..lol

So last night I hosted my second Paint Nite with Joe event and this was after I worked my ass off all day on a construction clean up job..!

It takes an immense amount of persistence and hard work to get anywhere in life.

Believe me, I know…

Take it from a guy who just spent damn near a decade behind bars. And is now trying as hard as he can to get his life together. FOR ONCE IN HIS LIFE..!

So, I suck it up and do what I must if I want to see this art business of mine do anything.

Last night, was event number too.

Not a great showing that turned out for the event. But still, 9 people did. And that just about covered what I put into the COST of this Paint Nite with Joe..!

Yikes..!

I lost my ass a little bit. But what I did make in return can’t be bought for the price of admission..!

I made a lot of MENTAL NOTES and I learned a HECK OF A LOT..!

All of which will help me with my next event that I’m hoping to host in about two weeks…

So what did I learn…

Well, for starters… The pic to be painted was not as easy for everyone to draw as I thought it would be…

IMG_1226

Yep, this little fella right here was the cause of a lot of hassle for some folks last night…

Still, you’d be surprized to know that of the 9 people in attendance last night, about 6 of them did surprisingly well for NEVER HAVING ANY DRAWING EXPERIENCE AT ALL…

Does that speak more to the simplicity of the piece overall…? Or does that speak more to my AWESOME TEACHING ABILITY..?

I’ll let you be the judge of that one.

Still, yet, still (lol)…

I learned that a piece of this technical-ness is best to be PRE-DRAWN for the customers…

It would certainly make things a lot easier for the few who struggled…

Also, yet, still,still,yet, also…

OK I’ll stop.

I’m not sure if those who struggled, did so because of the technical level of the piece. Or because instead they were SHIT FACED DRUNK.

Yes, there were a few who were just that. And I tend to think their difficulties with the piece came from their drunkenness and NOT the technical nature of the piece.

Proof is in the fact that 3 children who were in attendance did QUITE WELL with the piece.

So, yep.

Learning.

We also put together some really awesome goodie bags as a token of appreciation for those who were took part in the event last night, as well.

This is something I believe really HAS to be done. I want the customers to know that their business is SUPER APPRECIATED..!

Check out facebook.com/paintnitewithjoe  for more. There is a lot more there actually. And while there, please LIKE Paint Nite with Joe..!

That’s all for now….

Motivated.

Positive.

And ready to make the most of this beautiful day…

I hope you will, as well.

Take care.

Joe, Uber, and an AWESOME video..!

Hey everyone..!

Hey guess what..?

I’m still awake..!lol

I know that might not seem like such a big thing considering its only 9:30 pm where I am…

But I have been up since 4 am this morning, and really I’ve been running on little sleep for what seems like ALL week..!

But when your trying to be one man who changed the world…

Thats what you gotta do…

So, today I had to work my new office gig again. And I can’t even speak high enough about how awesome this job really is…

The individuals I work with are really cool and I just feel like a great fit there…

I had to be there at 8 am and it almost started out a little hectic…

My ride wasn’t going to be able to get me there on time.

I learned this 30 mins before I had to be there…

But thank the heavens for Uber..!

What an AWESOME creation this company has been for a person like me and the millions of others who use there services, as well…

Oh, and screw Lyft…

I have accounts with both Uber and Lyft…

Yet, never had a chance to use Lyft…

But this morning when I tried to give them a chance…

The closest ride was 30 mins away…

Uber…

6 mins…

I ended up using Uber twice today and both times the wait time was about 5 mins…

And the total cost was about as much as a cab would have been one way…!

Jeez what a plug for Uber, right..?

Hey can I get some advertising dollars over here..!! lol

So I figured out the ride situation today. Then worked til about 1:30 pm…

It was pretty damn awesome too.

Joe Guerrero is a secretary..!

Ye-ah..!

That’s f&%king MANLY..! lol

After work I had just enough time to work on some art projects before it was time to film again and then go off to probation for ANOTHER class..!

Thank God I only Have one of those classes left after tonight…

Yep, so my cameraman arrived and we went right to work shooting footage of a new segment about these such probation classes they require individuals to take after prison…

The segment came out awesome too…

And just wait till you see this one..!

You WILL notice a drastic difference between the last video and this one.

I’m supposed to shoot an interview tomorrow with this awesome woman “Angela…”

She is a SUPER ADVOCATE for guys and gals coming home after prison and trying  to turn their lives around…

I say I was “supposed” to shoot this…

But I’m already running into scheduling issues…

Then on top of that I have to serve a banquet tomorrow at 4 pm…

Then on top of that, I think I left my phone charger in my cameramans’ car…

Oh, such is the life of a secretary-film-producer-creator-Steven-Spielberg… like myself….lol

But I will figure it all out as I always try to do…

Oh and I WILL WILL WILL be getting some interviews and other individuals on camera telling their stories too..!

VERY SOON…

Especially after what I just did at this class for probation…

Oh you wanna know what I did at this class for probation…

Well…

see for yourself…
