A football super bowl philosophy

For those of you who don’t know I am the biggest Patriots fan ever.

I’ve never been to a game. Nor do I have a bunch of memorabilia. But I have literally fought behind this team…

How many fans can say that?

Back in 2007 during my first prison trip, and during a season where New England was working on an undefeated season, and during a Ravens game that we should have lost but somehow won…

This guy started talking shit and next thing you know I was fighting over Tom Brady…

In prison…

All because of a game we should have lost but somehow won.

A game we should have lost but somehow won…

Sounds a little like the Super Bowl last night a game we should have lost but won.

But let’s be real here…

You can’t take anything away from either team last night.

They both played their hearts out.

Both left it all on the field.

But like what usually happens when two power house teams play each other, the game was decided by one constant mistake made by Seattle that New England capitalized on.

I’m a huge Tom Brady fan…

A Bill Belichick fan…

A Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman fan…

Hell, even Malcolm Butler after his game winning heroic style catch last night.

But another reason I am such a big New England Patriots fan is because my father is too. Though we don’t have much of a relationship at all, well we really don’t have ANY relationship at all, it’s when the Patriots are playing that I know he is watching then just as I am.

So it’s during those times I feel we at least have some sort of connection.

Sounds ridicules right?

Or how about something that’s going to sound even more ridicules…

Going into last night’s Super Bowl I had created a philosophy of sort.

I’ve been locked up for 7 years by the time I get out this year.

That’s 7 football seasons I have been in prison.

During that time, my Patriots went to the Super Bowl twice if you include last night. They lost the first Super Bowl and hell they had even lost another Super Bowl while I was in prison during my first “bid”.

So really last night would have been 3 times in the last 8 years my Patriots went to the Super Bowl.

Last night is what I considered their 3rd and final shot at the championship.

I mean, Brady is 37 years old…

How many more years does he have left in the league?

Last night I felt like it was all or nothing.

So this was my logic leading up to the game…

I felt like if New England could go into this game and win it, then that means I have a chance to make it in life after I am released.

But if they lost, well then I knew I would feel like I didn’t have a chance at all and maybe I would be back to watch another 10 seasons of football in prison.

This was my philosophy…

Don’t ask me why…

But that’s how serious this New England shit is to me.

They had to win last night.

And miraculously in an epic fashion they did win.

The game was all but lost, but for whatever reason Seattle called a crazy play that in turn cost them the game.

I mean, this play was so crazy that I literally felt like it was a sign from God of the great things that are in store for me in life for the future.

And it was with that one play that my Patriots won the Super Bowl.

They overcame impossible odds…

Down 10 points in the second half of the Super Bowl against the #1 defense in the league…

The “legion of boom”.

Then are able to fight back and go up by 4 points with 2 minutes left in the game.

Only to have Seattle march right back down the field all the way to the 2 yard line with 25 seconds left…

At this point I feel like there is no way we can win this game.

Because I feel there is no way we can stop them from scoring.

They RUN the ball.

Why they called a pass play I will never understand…

Yet they do and BAM

We Won!

With this being the weekend of the Super Bowl and the fact that my New England Patriots will face off against a tough Seattle Seahawks team tomorrow and the fact that I pretty much bet the HOUSE on this game- I won’t be posting anything until Monday.

Or possible even later then that if my Patriots lose tomorrow.

But no…

I’m confident in my team and my hope is that we do what we must tomorrow and win.

Do tomorrow what I believe you can do and beat these Seahawks!

I hope all of you enjoy your weekend and the Super Bowl as well.

I took a week off…

This past week has been a bad one. Because of that I decided to take a little hiatus from the blog. I had figured that was better than the alternative, me bitching about a bunch of headiest stuff that prison life can confront you with and that I can’t change.

As this week winds down to an end, I can only hope that next week is a better one.

There are some things that I like to note about this past week, though.

I started a new gigantic mural in the gym.  It’s a piece for the young kids who come to visitation. They will enjoy it a lot as only they could recognize all the characters depicted in it. Once it is completed I will get a picture taken with it so I can show it to all of you. It should turn out to be a very impressive piece.

The world cup also started this past week. So no matter how aggravating life incarcerated can be, having the ability to watch soccer everyday of the week half way through July makes it fantastic.

Plus the US team just recently beat “Ghana” who had put them out twice in previous world cups. Today, USA plays Portugal and one of the best players in the world Cristiano Renaldo at 6pm on ESPN.  The US team has a good chance in this match and I am hoping they can pull off this win. Or, at least a tie. Both cases would help USA advance to the next round.

This next week, I will get back to the life. My main adjective is to keep the post as high quality as possible, also as entertaining as possible too. But I am curious to know what those of you who read this blog think. I want to know what you enjoy most on here.

I have created a poll for you to weigh in so I can have a better understanding of what you like most about Joewriteshiswrongs, so that I can know if I am heading in the right direction or not. The blog is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the bigger picture. Another story for another year… next year that is.

In the mean time please vote using the poll, and be on the lookout for new material to be posted this up coming week.
